Regional Center of S+T+ARTS: AIR

S+T+ARTS: where science, technology and art come together to innovate

S+T+ARTS is a European Commission initiative that promotes collaboration between science, technology and the arts to foster human-centred innovation based on shared values. When these three disciplines intersect, new perspectives, creative solutions and more sustainable models emerge to address Europe’s major social, ecological and economic challenges.

Artists bring a critical and disruptive view of technology, opening pathways to rethink the future. Art thus becomes a driving force for innovation, capable of transforming science, industry and society.

AIR – Air for European Resilience

The AIR project connects two major European supercomputing centres —Stuttgart and Barcelona— and brings together eight organisations from five countries to integrate the arts into research and digital innovation. Based on the concept of “air” as a common thread, AIR will host 10 S+T+ARTS residencies for artists exploring new methodologies and long-term collaborations between art, science and technology.

At a time when science and technology are often detached from human participation, AIR highlights the essential role of culture and creativity in building a more resilient, sustainable and forward-looking Europe.
