Aim

The aim is to broaden theoretical and practical knowledge of photography and as an introduction to the world of audiovisual language in the representation of space and architecture, based on an approach to the work of RCR Arquitectes and the photography of Hisao Suzuki. The exercises combine reflection on the work process and its implementation from a conscious approach to space and everything that surrounds us, contributing to the awakening of the senses. The audiovisual language is developed following the different phases of the production process in which each participant, individually or in groups, will carry out a creative video exercise.

Profile: The course is aimed at all people over 18 from any creative discipline or origin.

Hisao Suzuki

Director of the International Photography Workshop

Hisao Suzuki (Yamagata, Japan, 1957) graduated from the Tokyo School of Photography in 1979. Fascinated by the architecture of Antoni Gaudí, he arrived in Barcelona in 1982 and settled there. In 1986 he began to collaborate with the magazine El Croquis. He became its main photographer, thus contributing to the publication’s recognition as the most prestigious international medium for disseminating contemporary architecture. His photographs appear in numerous books and other global architecture and design magazines.

Júlia de Balle (Barcelona, Spain, 1986) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona (2009). After finishing her studies in Berlin, she joined the RCR Arquitectes team as a communication coordinator and audiovisual creative. She has directed two documentaries and currently combines work for external clients as a producer and editor of her projects.

Tomoko Sakamoto

Tutor of the International Photography Workshop

Tomoko Sakamoto (Tokyo, Japan, 1973) is an architect from Waseda University in Tokyo. She collaborates with EMBT Arquitectes Associats (1998-2001) and as an editor of architecture, design and art books for the publishing house Actar (2000-2012). In 2012 she founded the spread studio with David Lorente, with whom she has developed several editorial projects and exhibitions.

Alba Domènech

Tutor of the International Audiovisual Workshop

Alba Domènech (Banyoles, 1987) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona (2009), with a postgraduate degree in Innovation in Audiovisual Content Creation from the UOC (2012). She has directed the communication of the NGO aecc-Catalunya contra el Càncer. She currently combines her audiovisual work with teaching at the School of Art and Design (EASD) in Olot.
